Morton Grove Park District is accepting letters of interest to fill a vacant seat on its Board of Park Commissioners. The candidate selected will finish the remaining term of Commissioner Coursey who served the Park District for 39 years. The Board will appoint a new Commissioner who will then serve until the April 2017 consolidated election.
The Morton Grove Park District Board of Commissioners is a five-member Board which performs a valuable and necessary service. The members of the Board serve without monetary compensation and commit approximately 10-hours of volunteer time per month. The Park Board’s regularly scheduled meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of the month at the Prairie View Community Center at 6:30 pm. Candidates must be a Morton Grove Park District resident for at least one year and a registered voter.
The Board functions under the authority of the Illinois Park District code and Illinois State Compiled Statutes. The Board’s function is primarily with Park District policy and the annual budget rather than administrative details.
