Guest Service Representative

The Guest Service Representative is responsible for front-line customer service. The Guest Service Representative is a part-time employee working 10–15 hours per week, primarily nights and weekends. Work pace is moderate to busy depending on the volume of customers during peak times.

Qualifications: The Guest Service Representative should have at least 2 years in a customer service-related position. Experience with RecTrac is preferred. CPR training and First Aid are required but will train. High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Immediate Supervisor: The Guest Service Representative is under the direction of the Registration Coordinator.

Essential Functions:

  1. Greet all patrons, members, and participants in a friendly and courteous manner as they enter the Prairie View Community Center.
  2. Process program registrations, season passes, and other activities.
  3. Answer phones in a timely manner, directing the call to the appropriate person.
  4. Answer all patrons’ questions either in person or on the telephone, or direct patron to appropriate person or department for the question to be answered.
  5. Assist in refunds and program cancellations.
  6. Process rental contracts, including checking availability, taking deposits, and completing paperwork.
  7. Assist other team members with participating in and preparing for Special Events. Copying, distribution of information or materials, and scheduling facilities.
  8. Maintains the general tidiness of the registration area.
  9. Complete additional tasks as assigned.

 

Marginal Functions: Minimal amount of filing.

Psychological Considerations: The Customer Service Representative must be patient in dealing with the public and cooperative in working as a team member representing the Morton Grove Park District. Must be capable of handling more than one task at a time and have the ability to work under pressure.

Physiological Considerations: The Customer Service Representative must stand for long periods of time behind the counter. Some light clean up duty is required.  Extensive bending is required periodically.

Environmental Considerations: All activities are performed indoors.  These environmental conditions include lighting and temperature.

Cognitive Considerations: The ability to use good judgment is necessary.  Must be friendly, outgoing and personable to patrons.

Job Description: The Afterschool Team Member is responsible for the supervision and safety of all program participants.

Qualifications:: At least 16 years of age. Experience working with children is preferred. Enthusiastic, energetic, and patient individual. CPR, First Aid/AED certification is a must (will train in house).

Immediate Supervisor: The Team Member is responsible to the Site Supervisor.

Essential Functions:

  1. Plan, direct, and supervise activities for children.
  2. Promote the philosophy pf the Beforeschool/Afterschool program.
  3. Enforce all programs rules and regulations.
  4. Maintain site in a well-groomed manner.
  5. Participate in all meetings and workshops.
  6. Use all Beforschool/Afterschool equipment in a safe and proper manner.
  7. Implement and lead new and creative activities.
  8. Be a good role model for all Beforschool/Afterschool participants.
  9. Complete all other duties assigned.

 

Psychological Considerations: The team member may need to resolve differences and problems that may arise between children.

Physiological Considerations: Must have the ability to lift 40 pounds.

Environmental Conditions: Activities are performed both indoors and outdoors. Environmental considerations can include but are not limited to weather conditions and building maintenance/ and or construction.

Gymnastics Coordinator

Job Description

The Gymnastics Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership and direction for recreational gymnastics programs. This includes planning class curriculum, supervising staff, ensuring participant safety, and maintaining strong communication with parents, staff, and park district leadership. This part-time role requires a professional, positive, and organized individual who can manage multiple responsibilities, lead by example, and maintain a safe and engaging environment for participants and staff. Duties fall within the medium/heavy work range (lifting 45–75 lbs.) and involve spotting and equipment handling.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience as a gymnast and/or gymnastics instructor or coach
  • Experience working with children and youth
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain within first 3 months; training provided)
  • USA Gymnastics Safety Certification and Professional Membership (district-paid; required) by February 1.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to spot gymnasts and lift equipment (up to 75 lbs.)

Immediate Supervisor: The Gymnastics Coordinator is responsible to the Recreation Supervisor-Athletics

Essential Functions:

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate gymnastics classes
  • Supervise daily activities of gymnastics instructors to ensure quality instruction and safety
  • Train, schedule, and evaluate instructors; make recommendations for hiring
  • Create and distribute staff schedules each session
  • Lead gymnastics staff meetings and trainings
  • Monitor class ratios and staff performance to ensure efficiency and safety
  • Maintain program policies and communicate them clearly to staff and parents
  • Assist in preparing seasonal brochure content and promotional material
  • Attend staff and planning meetings with the Recreation Supervisor

Instructional Responsibilities:

  • Provide written class curriculums and assist with or lead class instruction as needed
  • Arrive 15 minutes early to set up for classes and prepare the gym space
  • Lead warm-ups and teach age-appropriate skills and drills
  • Spot participants safely and effectively to prevent injuries
  • Adapt lessons as needed to meet the needs of all participants
  • Track attendance, make-up classes, and student progress
  • Maintain and update skill progression tracking for each student
  • Make final recommendations for advancement to the next level

Facility & Equipment:

  • Set up and take down equipment as needed for classes
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and gym space
  • Enforce proper spotting techniques and ensure skill development follows safe progression
  • Immediately report equipment issues to the Recreation Supervisor

Communication & Customer Service:

  • Serve as liaison to parents and participants; respond to concerns in a timely, professional manner
  • Encourage a positive environment that supports participant growth and enjoyment
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and inquiries regarding the gymnastics program
  • Provide exceptional customer service aligned with District standards

Class Instruction Responsibilities:

  1. Arrive 15 minutes before class for setup
  2. Lead or assist in warm-ups and instruction
  3. Teach skills appropriate to participant level and ability
  4. Keep participants engaged and focused
  5. Adapt teaching methods for safety and inclusion
  6. Spot students correctly to prevent injury
  7. Assist with long-term class planning for skill development
  8. Track attendance and make-ups
  9. Maintain skill tracking system and communicate progress to parents
  10. Recommend class advancement when appropriate

Psychological Considerations: The gymnastics coordinator may need to resolve differences and problems that arise with the children or parents or instructors. May also have to work under stressful situations when First Aid, CPR or the AED is required.

Physiological Considerations: This position requires lifting of gym mats and equipment and also lifting and spotting the participants.

Cognitive Considerations: The ability to use good judgment it necessary as well as a positive, friendly, and outgoing personality.

Gymnastics Instructor

Supervisor: The Gymnastics Instructor reports to the Gymnastics Coordinator and the Recreation Supervisor.

Essential Functions:
– Teach gymnastics classes to participants ages 5-10, focusing on safety, technique, and skill progression.
– Safely spot and assist participants with basic and intermediate gymnastics skills.
– Follow class lesson plans as prescribed by the coordinator.
– Maintain class management and use time effectively.
– Evaluate participant skills and recommend advancement as appropriate.
– Ensure the safety of all students and the gymnastics environment.
– Inspect and monitor gymnastics equipment and facility; promptly report any concerns. Gymnastics Instructor
– Provide motivational support and positive guidance to participants.
– Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and patrons.
– Work collaboratively with other staff members and attend scheduled meetings.
– Represent the Morton Grove Park District in a professional and courteous manner.
– Perform additional duties as assigned based on agency needs.

Safety Responsibilities:
– Must be able to follow direction from the supervisor with safe and effective follow-through.
– Must use good safety awareness and judgment.
– Must participate in all required safety-related trainings.
– Responsible for administering minor first aid if needed and promptly reporting any incidents.

Psychological Considerations: The Gymnastics Instructor is responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and positive learning environment. Must demonstrate patience and the ability to motivate participants of all ages and skill levels. May need to respond calmly and effectively in stressful or emergency situations.

Environmental Considerations: Exposure to cleaning and disinfecting supplies, noise, dust, gymnastics chalk, and elevation.
May be required to lift and/or move equipment up to 50 pounds.

Cognitive Considerations: Must possess good safety awareness and sound judgment. Must be friendly and enjoy working with children and families. Must be able to follow directions, listen, speak, and communicate effectively. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pickleball Instructor (part-time)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Teach pickleball lessons and lead pickleball programs for the Morton Grove Park District’s pickleball program under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor – Athletics.

DUTIES:

  1. Arrive to lessons/classes 30 minutes before the start of class wearing the assigned Park District Staff shirt.
  2. Set up all equipment and supplies as required. Instructors need to use their own pickleball racquet.
  3. Follow guidelines set by the Recreation Supervisor – Athletics.
  4. Notify Recreation Supervisor – Athletics and Guest Services if inclement weather causes scheduling changes.
  5. Attend required trainings and meetings.
  6. Perform the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies and procedures.
  7. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor, Superintendent of Recreation and/or the Executive Director. However, in an emergency perform all duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be a high school graduate, or possess a G.E.D.
  2. Must have a complete understanding of the game of pickleball, knowledge of the rules and minimum playing experience.
  3. Must be able to play pickleball and demonstrate the skills required for pickleball. Must be able to communicate effectively with others for safety purposes and to allow for coordination of work. Must be able to recognize unsafe conditions and respond accordingly.
  4. Must be able to respond to emergency situations quickly while understanding procedures and policies. Instructors must abide by the guidelines and policies set by the district.

The pickleball instructors will be representing the Morton Grove Park District. It is very important that the instructors always conduct themselves in a professional manner. Additionally, they must possess a high level of energy and initiative and work cooperatively and harmoniously with patrons and fellow employees. Must be able to stand and walk for a long period of time. Must be able to lift 20+ pounds if needed. Pickleball Instructors are regularly exposed to outdoor conditions including sun, high humidity, wind, and excessive heat and cold.

Due to the needs of the Park District, additional evening or weekend hours may be required. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the Pickleball Instructor position. Nothing contained herein shall preclude or limit the Park District from changing this written job description through addition, deletion, or modification of essential job duties.

 

Schedule: 2-4 hours per week on weekday evenings during program sessions beginning mid-April. Classes for beginner to intermediate level players.

Personal Trainer

A Personal Trainer is responsible for creating customized workouts for members/clients that meet their individual health goals in a safe manner. A Personal Trainer is responsible for creating positive and encouraging relationships with each member/client.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent. Maintain a Personal Training Certification in ACSM or equivalent.  CPR/AED and First Aid certification necessary (will train).

Immediate Supervisor:
The Personal Trainer is under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor.

Essential Functions:

  1. Create personalized workouts for each client that meets their individual goals.
  2. Create a workout that is safe and considers the entire park districts safety standard as well as the client’s personal limitations.  Complete accident/Incident reports when necessary.
  3. Verify training sessions with customer service.
  4. Demonstrate appropriate and safe exercises and spot client during workout. Secure a spotter if beyond trainers lifting capability. 
  5. Communicate with clients on their personal training schedule.

 

Psychological Considerations:
Personal Trainer must be patient in dealing with the public.
The Personal Trainer may also have to work under stressful situations when First Aid or CPR/AED is required.

Physiological Considerations:
Must have the ability to lift 45 lbs.
May need to respond quickly to an emergency.
