Aqua Group Exercise Instructor
Job Description – Summary
The Aqua Fitness Instructor is responsible for conducting a safe and effective aqua exercise class(es) for the Morton Grove Park District. This is a seasonal, part-time, non-exempt position.
Qualifications
CPR/AED and First Aid is required but will Train. Prior experience is preferred.
Supervisor
The Aqua Group Exercise Instructor reports to the Recreation Supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for creating class format in which include cardio and strength workouts.
- Current nationally accredited Group Exercise Instructor (AEA, ACE, or AFAA) with aqua/water aerobics experience, OR certified aqua/water aerobics certification.
- Delivering an efficient and fun workout while monitoring class safety.
- Positive and enthusiastic energy.

Personal Trainer
Job Description: A Personal Trainer is responsible for creating customized workouts for members/clients that meet their individual health goals in a safe manner. A Personal Trainer is responsible for creating positive and encouraging relationships with each member/client.
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Maintain a Personal Training Certification in ACSM or equivalent. CPR/AED and First Aid certification necessary (will train).
Immediate Supervisor: The Personal Trainer is under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Create personalized workouts for each client that meets their individual goals.
- Create a workout that is safe and considers the entire park districts safety standard as well as the client’s personal limitations. Complete accident/Incident reports when necessary.
- Verify training sessions with customer service.
- Demonstrate appropriate and safe exercises and spot client during workout. Secure a spotter if beyond trainers lifting capability.
- Communicate with clients on their personal training schedule.
Psychological Considerations: Personal Trainer must be patient in dealing with the public.
The Personal Trainer may also have to work under stressful situations when First Aid or CPR/AED is required.

Lifeguard
Lifeguard
Job Description
Provide a safe aquatic experience through rule enforcement, accident prevention, and competency in lifesaving skills. This position is a seasonal, part-time, and non-exempt position.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must be able to pass the Lifeguard Skills Test.
The test includes:
- Be able to swim 200 yards using either or either the front crawl (freestyle) and/or breaststroke without resting.
- Be able to conduct a feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb. brick, and bring it to the surface.
- Be able to tread water without using your arms for 2 minutes.
*Information about date, time, and location will be provided to you once you complete the application.
This position requires an Ellis Lifeguard license, which includes CPR, First Aid, and AED training.
Immediate Supervisor:
The Lifeguard directly reports to the Recreation Supervisor and pool Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Arrive and punch in 15 minutes before the start of the shift to set up pools, including but not limited to; setting out rescue equipment, putting up umbrellas, ensuring bathrooms and locker rooms are clean and open, installing lane lines, and bringing out swim lesson equipment.
- Must wear staff shirt, visor, swimsuit, and whistle while on duty.
- Guard your zone with 10/20 scanning and enforce rules responsibly, NEVER leaving your assigned post until you are appropriately relieved, or the area is closed and clear of patrons. Posts are on rotations; you will receive a break at least every 2 hours.
- Always provide exceptional customer service to patrons and guests.
- Return to the rotation on time and efficiently after the break.
- Perform assigned closing duties, including but not limited to, putting equipment away, cleaning the bathrooms and locker rooms, and closing umbrellas.
- Co-teach swimming lessons (training provided).
- Complete accident and rescue reports thoroughly.
- Attending 2-hour weekly mandatory in-service.
- Resolve problems with patrons before they get more serious.

Cashier
Cashier
Job Description:
The Cashier is responsible for the greeting and money exchange of pool patrons’ entering/exiting the pool facility.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years of age. Must work well with all ages and possess a friendly disposition. Good math and customer service skills are a must.
Essential Functions:
- Arrive and punch in 15 minutes prior to start of shift to prepare pool for entrance. This includes but is not limited to cleaning all surfaces in contact with customers, updating signage, preparing registers (log on) and paperwork for the day. Ensure the bank is accounted for and all reports are available for the day.
- Providing exceptional customer service to patrons and guests always. Always treat customers with respect and courtesy. Inform Manager if problems arise.
- Manage cash flow including daily fee and merchandise sales.
- Keep the register updated and keep capacity counts available for Managers.
- Treat customers with respect and courtesy. Inform Manager if a problem arises.
- Check that patrons are supervised or are proper age to enter, wearing proper swim attire and that no prohibited materials enter the pool. Discourage loitering.
- Position may work as attendant atop waterslide, releasing patrons down slide and enforcing slide rules.
- At the end of the day, clean the register area. Prepare deposit. Money should be counted in private “safe” area. NOT IN VIEW OF PUBLIC. Never leave cash register unattended. Always count money more than once. Wait for Management to count out deposit. Account for all the money, remove the required (appropriate denominations) bank amount and fill out all the appropriate paperwork.
- Assist with cleaning and general procedures if tasks are completed before facility closes and punch out after Manager’s approval.

Camp Counselor
Camp Counselor
Job Description
The Camp Counselor is responsible for the supervision and safety of campers.
Qualifications: Must be energetic, responsible and enjoy working with children. Must be at least 16 years of age by June 3. Prior experience leading groups of children and/or babysitting a plus. Must have strong organizational and leadership/supervisory skills. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. To be considered for a summer camp position, we prefer that you are available to work entire camp sessions.
Immediate Supervisor: The Camp Counselor is responsible to the Site Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Direct and supervise activities for campers.
- Supervise campers in camp-wide activities providing for their safety and well-being.
Campers should never be left alone.
- Enforce all camp regulations and promote the camp’s philosophy.
- Assist in all camp-related activities including swimming.
- Participate in weekly planning staff meeting.
- Prepare daily plans and evaluations as requested.
- Use all camp equipment and property in a proper manner.

Camp Site Supervisor
Camp Site Supervisor
Job Description: Camp Site Supervisor
The Site Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the daily operation of the summer camp program he or she has been put in charge of.
Qualifications: At least 21 years of age with a High School diploma or equivalent. College degree or teaching certificate preferred. Must be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid and have three-years or more prior camp experience. Skills in supervision, organization, lesson planning, record keeping, and communication are necessary.
Immediate Supervisor: The Site Supervisor is responsible to the Camp Coordinator and the Recreation Supervisor in charge of camps.
Essential Functions:
- Plan, organize, develop, and implement daily camp activities with the staff.
- Assist in staff training, i.e., staff or orientation, activity/games workshop.
- Supervise counselors, JR. Leaders, and campers daily and keep activities flowing smoothly at site.
- Organize and lead staff meetings.
- Keep records and submit camp reports and evaluations to the Camp Coordinator.
- Build and maintain staff morale.
- Handle discipline problems.
- Maintain communication with Camp Coordinator, Recreation Supervisor and parents with camper concerns.
- Evaluate camp program and camp staff mid-season and end of season.
- Responsible for equipment inventory.
- Assist in all camp-related activities including swimming.

Maintenance Technician 2
Maintenance Technician 2
Job Description The Maintenance Technician 2 is responsible for performing a variety of park labor duties to maintain and/or repair park properties and equipment. Maintenance Technicians are responsible for performing the duties outlined in this analysis. Maintenance Technicians are full-time employees, and work is performed at a moderate, constant pace, but may vary slightly depending on the demands of the job required. Maintenance Technicians may perform duties in the medium heavy work level (lifting 75 lbs. frequently).
Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age, High School graduate with a minimum of two years’ experience in park district maintenance or a related field is required. Basic knowledge and experience in grounds or facility maintenance is required. An operator’s license for application of herbicides is required within 90 days after employment begins. Certified Pool Operator experience is preferred, but if not, certification must be obtained within six months of hire. Must have a valid Illinois driver license with no revocation or suspension within the last three years. A pre-placement physical is required.
Immediate Supervisor: Maintenance Technicians are directly responsible to the Superintendent of Parks and Facilities and/or Parks Foreman.
Essential Functions:
- Mowing park district turf.
- Operation of park district vehicles and machinery.
- General road repair: asphalt patching.
- Turf maintenance – fertilizing, seeding, aerating, weed eradicating.
- Snow and ice removal.
- Planting and trimming of trees and shrubs.
- Maintenance of outdoor winter facilities.
- Repairing and installing park and playground equipment and site amenities.
- Sports field preparation including dragging, rolling and marking lines.
- Removing all garbage and refuse materials from parks and facilities.
- Repair and routine maintenance of two outdoor pools, which includes keeping accurate records.
- Positive interaction and cooperation with all staff and the public.
- Routine parks, facilities, and equipment cleaning maintenance and repairs.
- Participation in the Park District Safety Program and its directives.

Protective clothing is required as follows: earplugs, ear covers, helmets, respirators, safety goggles/glasses, back supporter belts, leather type work boots, protective gloves, disposable chemical coveralls.

Position Type: Pickleball Instructor
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Teach pickleball lessons and lead pickleball programs for the Morton Grove Park District’s pickleball program under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor – Athletics.
DUTIES:
- Arrive to lessons/classes 30 minutes before the start of class wearing the assigned Park District Staff shirt.
- Set up all equipment and supplies as required. Instructors need to use their own pickleball racquet.
- Follow guidelines set by the Recreation Supervisor – Athletics.
- Notify Recreation Supervisor – Athletics and Guest Services if inclement weather causes scheduling changes.
- Attend required trainings and meetings.
- Perform the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor, Superintendent of Recreation and/or the Executive Director. However, in an emergency perform all duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years old. Must be a high school graduate, or possess a G.E.D.
- Must have a complete understanding of the game of pickleball, knowledge of the rules and minimum playing experience.
- Must be able to play pickleball and demonstrate the skills required for pickleball. Must be able to communicate effectively with others for safety purposes and to allow for coordination of work. Must be able to recognize unsafe conditions and respond accordingly.
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations quickly while understanding procedures and policies. Instructors must abide by the guidelines and policies set by the district.
The pickleball instructors will be representing the Morton Grove Park District. It is very important that the instructors always conduct themselves in a professional manner. Additionally, they must possess a high level of energy and initiative and work cooperatively and harmoniously with patrons and fellow employees. Must be able to stand and walk for a long period of time. Must be able to lift 20+ pounds if needed. Pickleball Instructors are regularly exposed to outdoor conditions including sun, high humidity, wind, and excessive heat and cold.
Due to the needs of the Park District, additional evening or weekend hours may be required. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the Pickleball Instructor position. Nothing contained herein shall preclude or limit the Park District from changing this written job description through addition, deletion, or modification of essential job duties.
Schedule: 2-4 hours per week on weekday evenings during program sessions beginning mid-April. Classes for beginner to intermediate level players.

Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Part-Time Maintenance Technician at the Prairie View Community Center is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility. This role includes performing various maintenance tasks and repairs as needed. Candidates must be capable of lifting heavy objects (over 75 lbs.).
The position requires availability on weekends, specifically Saturday and Sunday from 4 pm to 8 pm, and involves working up to 10 hours per week.
Education & Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. One-year minimum of previous janitorial or
maintenance experience. Must be self-motivated with good judgment and the ability to work
independently.
Immediate Supervisor:
The Part-Time Maintenance Technician is under the direct supervision of the Facility Foreman.
Qualifications:
- Custodial Tasks are necessary to maintain a clean appearance on the outside and inside of
the Community Center, including snow and ice removal. - Routine maintenance includes cleaning, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, vacuuming,
dusting, and washing all floors, walls, windows, carpeting, washroom fixtures, tables,
chairs, and any other permanent or movable item or fixture located in the Center Facility. - Check the entire building, both upper and lower levels, at periodic intervals during
working hours for safety, security, and maintenance reasons. - Must take proper safety precautions, be aware of potential and existing hazards on the job
and attempt to eliminate them. - Positive interaction and cooperation with all Park District staff, which includes the public
and facility patrons - Clean all areas as instructed by Foreman and complete checklists
- Perform additional duties as assigned
