Job Description: The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for directly overseeing all day-to-day operations of Oriole and Harrer pools, before- and after-school programs, school day off programs and special events. The supervisor is also responsible for the planning, operation, organization, and evaluation of programs. The Recreation Supervisor hires, trains, and supervises all aquatic and school age program staff.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, minimum of two (2) years aquatics operations, aquatic programming, or a related supervisory role. Ellis’s lifeguard instructor or certified within three months of hire. Current CPR and First Aid certification (in-house training available). Knowledge of reading, calculating, checking, and maintaining chemical levels. Must be able to obtain CPO certification within one year of hire. Must have highly effective interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and advanced communication skills. Demonstrated initiative, dependability, good judgment, tact, analytical skills, leadership, and the capability to work positively with the public. Rec Trac experience preferred, but not required. Must possess a valid Illinois Class “D” Driver’s License.
Immediate Supervisor: The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for the Superintendent of Recreation.
Hours: The Recreation Supervisor of Aquatics/School Age Programs shall have varying hours due to programs, special events, and facility operating hours. Due to the varying nature of the work, evening and weekend hours are to be expected during the summer months.
Essential Functions:
- Directly supervises seasonal and part-time employees, including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, mentoring, and evaluating approximately 120 seasonal employees.
- Supervise pool operations, including lifeguards, cashiers, and managers on duty, to maintain maximum patron safety.
- Plan school days off the trips, book field trips, and entertainers.
- Conduct training and in-services for all staff.
- Manage, maintain, and promote district-wide Aquatics programs, including swim lessons, swim team, special events, parties, and rentals.
- Design engaging aquatic programs and events.
- To operate safe aquatics facilities, you must maintain and comply with Jeff Ellis and Associates, the State of Illinois Health Department, and PDRMA rules and regulations.
- Plan, organized, implemented, evaluated, and supervised aquatic and school programs and special events.
- Prepare program department budgets.
- Evaluate/survey all programs/participants within your assigned areas.
- Provide direction, leadership, and motivation to staff under your supervision. This includes conducting and managing the annual and seasonal performance review process.
- Prepare and monitor scheduling and payroll for your staff.
- Establish and nurture communication with outside resources valuable to your programming, including public and private organizations.
- Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the District’s safety program. Using good safety awareness and judgment.

Physiological Considerations: The Recreation Supervisor may be required to work in a climate 86 degrees or higher with high humidity. The worker may be required to lift items 10-20 lbs. in weight and respond to safety concerns quickly and accurately.
Environmental Considerations: The Recreation Supervisor may be exposed to all weather conditions during summer events, especially hot and humid conditions.
Cognitive Considerations: The Recreation Supervisor must possess good safety awareness and judgment. Must be a good communicator with strong creative skills.

Job Description: Provide a safe aquatic experience through rule enforcement, accident prevention, and competency in lifesaving skills. This position is a seasonal, part-time, and non-exempt position.
Qualifications: Must be at least 15 years of age with a workers permit. Must be able to pass the Lifeguard Skills Test.
The test includes:
Be able to swim 200 yards using either or either the front crawl (freestyle) and/or breaststroke without resting.
Be able to conduct a feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb. brick, and bring it to the surface.
Be able to tread water without using your arms for 2 minutes.
Information about date, time, and location will be provided to you once you complete the application.
This position requires an Ellis Lifeguard license, which includes CPR, First Aid, and AED training.
Immediate Supervisor: The Lifeguard directly reports to the Recreation Supervisor and pool Manager.
Essential Functions: Arrive and punch in 15 minutes before the start of the shift to set up pools, including but not limited to; setting out rescue equipment, putting up umbrellas, ensuring bathrooms and locker rooms are clean and open, installing lane lines, and bringing out swim lesson equipment.
– Must wear staff shirt, visor, swimsuit, and whistle while on duty.
– Guard your zone with 10/20 scanning and enforce rules responsibly, NEVER leaving your assigned post until you are appropriately relieved, or the area is closed and clear of patrons. Posts are on rotations; you will receive a break at least every 2 hours.
– Always provide exceptional customer service to patrons and guests.
– Perform assigned closing duties, including but not limited to, putting equipment away, cleaning the bathrooms and locker rooms, and closing umbrellas.
– Co-teach swimming lessons (training provided).
– Complete accident and rescue reports thoroughly.
– Attending 2-hour weekly mandatory in-service.
– Resolve problems with patrons before they get more serious.
– Perform the job safely and in compliance with the district policies, procedures, work and safety rules, and the employee handbook.

The Site Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the daily operation of the summer camp program he or she has been put in charge of.
Qualifications: At least 21 years of age with a High School diploma or equivalent. College degree or teaching certificate preferred. Must be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid and have three-years or more prior camp experience. Skills in supervision, organization, lesson planning, record keeping, and communication are necessary.
Immediate Supervisor: The Site Supervisor is responsible to the Camp Coordinator and the Recreation Supervisor in charge of camps.
Essential Functions:
- Plan, organize, develop, and implement daily camp activities with the staff.
- Assist in staff training, i.e., staff or orientation, activity/games workshop.
- Supervise counselors, JR. Leaders, and campers daily and keep activities flowing smoothly at site.
- Organize and lead staff meetings.
- Keep records and submit camp reports and evaluations to the Camp Coordinator.
- Build and maintain staff morale.
- Handle discipline problems.
- Maintain communication with Camp Coordinator, Recreation Supervisor and parents with camper concerns.
- Evaluate camp program and camp staff mid-season and end of season.
- Responsible for equipment inventory.

Summary: The Program Inclusion Assistant is responsible for working with individuals with varied ages and disabilities in recreational programs. The position includes support of participants, recognizing the need for adaptive equipment, adapting rules, adapting the environment or identifying adaptive methodologies.
Qualifications: The Program Inclusion Assistant must be at least 16 years of age or older. A basic knowledge and understanding of recreation programming is desired. An individual who is highly motivated and enthusiastic is preferred in order to provide a quality experience for those participating in the program.

The Part-Time Social Media Specialist is responsible for creating, managing, and promoting social media content that highlights Morton Grove Park District programs, facilities, and community events. The position plays a key role in increasing public engagement, maintaining brand consistency, and strengthening the Park District’s online presence. This is a part-time position, working approximately 10–20 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends for event coverage.
Qualifications:
Minimum age for the position is 18 years old. A background in communications, social media, or a related field is required. Experience managing social media accounts for an organization or business is required. Must have strong writing and communication skills, creativity, and attention to detail. Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) and design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is required. Basic photography and video editing skills preferred.

Job Description
The Gymnastics Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership and direction for recreational gymnastics programs. This includes planning class curriculum, supervising staff, ensuring participant safety, and maintaining strong communication with parents, staff, and park district leadership. This part-time role requires a professional, positive, and organized individual who can manage multiple responsibilities, lead by example, and maintain a safe and engaging environment for participants and staff. Duties fall within the medium/heavy work range (lifting 45–75 lbs.) and involve spotting and equipment handling.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience as a gymnast and/or gymnastics instructor or coach
- Experience working with children and youth

Essential Functions:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Teach pickleball lessons and lead pickleball programs for the Morton Grove Park District’s pickleball program under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor – Athletics.
DUTIES:
- Arrive to lessons/classes 30 minutes before the start of class wearing the assigned Park District Staff shirt.
- Set up all equipment and supplies as required. Instructors need to use their own pickleball racquet.
- Follow guidelines set by the Recreation Supervisor – Athletics.
- Notify Recreation Supervisor – Athletics and Guest Services if inclement weather causes scheduling changes.
- Attend required trainings and meetings.
- Perform the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor, Superintendent of Recreation and/or the Executive Director. However, in an emergency perform all duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years old. Must be a high school graduate, or possess a G.E.D.
- Must have a complete understanding of the game of pickleball, knowledge of the rules and minimum playing experience.
- Must be able to play pickleball and demonstrate the skills required for pickleball. Must be able to communicate effectively with others for safety purposes and to allow for coordination of work. Must be able to recognize unsafe conditions and respond accordingly.
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations quickly while understanding procedures and policies. Instructors must abide by the guidelines and policies set by the district.
The pickleball instructors will be representing the Morton Grove Park District. It is very important that the instructors always conduct themselves in a professional manner. Additionally, they must possess a high level of energy and initiative and work cooperatively and harmoniously with patrons and fellow employees. Must be able to stand and walk for a long period of time. Must be able to lift 20+ pounds if needed. Pickleball Instructors are regularly exposed to outdoor conditions including sun, high humidity, wind, and excessive heat and cold.
Due to the needs of the Park District, additional evening or weekend hours may be required. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the Pickleball Instructor position. Job Description
Summary: Under the direction of Recreation Supervisor and Dance Coordinator. Dance teachers are responsible for instructing students in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and other forms of dance as determined by the supervisor. Dance teachers plan their dance program to meet students’ needs. Explain and demonstrate techniques and methods of dance, drill pupils in execution of dance steps, choreograph and direct dance performances according to style of dancing taught. Participate in the planning and execution of the annual dance recital.
Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years old. Degree in Dance or Education with dance experience preferred. Experienced in dance performance required and teaching experience preferred. Ability to work independently and creatively.

Job Description
The Seasonal Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of park labor duties to maintain and repair park properties and equipment. Seasonal Maintenance Technicians are responsible for performing the responsibilities outlined in this analysis. Work is performed at a moderate, constant pace but may vary slightly depending on the job’s demands. Maintenance Technicians may perform duties in the medium heavy work level (lifting 75 lbs. frequently).
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age. Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license with no revocation or suspensions within the last three years. A pre-placement physical is required. Must be able to work 40 hours a week including evenings, weekends, and special events.
