Morton Grove Preschool Program

AGES 2-4 | Classes for two, three, and four year old’s are designed to give your child the tools and experiences they need to assure a positive transition to Kindergarten and beyond.

The Morton Grove Park District preschool program, The Grove, provides a nurturing environment which allows the children opportunities to grow socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically. Children learn through play in a variety of activities including art, music, movement, math, science, story time and group discussions. Our quality program and experienced teachers give your child the tools and experiences they need to assure a positive transition from preschool to kindergarten. The Grove Preschool Program provides a warm, nurturing environment where children can learn and grow.

Two Year Old Preschool (Parent-Tot)

Prairie View Community Center, 6834 Dempster Street

We offer Parent-Tot Preschool for the adventurous 2-year old. Parents and Tots experience the fun of preschool together in a unique and exciting environment.

Emphasis at this level includes:

  • Getting accustomed to interactive play with other children in a highly supervised atmosphere
  • Opportunities to learn developmental approach to education
  • Opportunities for parents/caretakers to interact and share experiences

Three Year Old Preschool

Mansfield Park Fieldhouse, 5830 Church Street

The emphasis is on learning through play and socialization. Children become acquainted with a classroom environment where they will learn to listen and follow directions, take turns with other children and immerse themselves in both structured and unstructured learning opportunities through unique, fun, and educational activities.

Emphasis at this level includes:

  • Independence and separation
  • Sharing
  • Cooperative Group Play
  • Numbers, Letters, Shapes, and Colors Recognition
  • Introduction to and refinement of existing gross and fine motor skills

Great Oaks

Four Year Old Preschool

Located at Austin Park Fieldhouse, 8336 Marmora Avenue and Oket Park Fieldhouse, 8950 Oketo Avenue

Basic concepts in our previous programs are reviewed and reinforced through both structured and unstructured activities. The emphasis this year is on developing both the academic and social skills needed for entering Kindergarten in area school districts. Our program will stress the development of independence and academic skills through learning centers, socialization, and cooperative and dramatic play.

The emphasis at this level includes:

  • Preparing children to venture into the Kindergarten Classroom.
  • Fine motor skills are reintroduced and reviewed throughout the year in various projects to reinforce proper handling of school materials, pencil usage and scissor skills.
  • Increased focus on larger group activities and dynamics.
  • Reinforcement of name and letter recognition and formation.

Preschool Registration

Deposit

A $100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration. Note: We cannot honor any class changes or refunds after August 1. Payment plans are available.

Preschool Enrollment

All participants must be 2, 3 or 4 years old on or by September 1. All children entering the 3 or 4 year old programs are required to be potty trained and able to use the toilet independently. Before school year activities will be held the week prior to the first day of class. Graduations will be held the second week of May.

To enroll, you must submit the completed and signed registration form, birth certificate, immunization record, and deposit. Registration must be done in person, there is no online registration.

Preschool Health Guidelines

Our Preschool classrooms will follow Preschool Health Guidelines to help prevent the spread of germs in class. These guidelines will be updated in July.
