THEME: “Why is Parks and Recreation important to Morton Grove”
ELIGIBILITY: Residents of Morton Grove who are fourth through eighth grade middle school students.
GRADE CATEGORIES: Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth
RULES: Each essay MUST contain the phrase: “Why is Parks and Recreation important to Morton Grove”
Each essay is to be handwritten or typed on the front side of one 8 1/2” X 11” lined or printer paper. One essay per student may be submitted.
Each essay must be submitted with the child’s name, address, grade, school they attend, and a guardian’s name and contact number.
JUDGING: Each submission will be judged on originality, sincerity, and the student’s ability to convey a concise thought.
TIMELINE: Essays can be sent via email to the park district at board@mgparks.com or dropped off at the Prairie View Community Center registration desk on or before Tuesday, November 25. Winners will be notified via telephone on Tuesday, December 2.
AWARDS: One winner from each grade will receive a 2026 Family Pool Pass from the Morton Grove Park District.
