Mazhar Khan, President

Mazhar Khan is a Morton Grove resident and has been an active member of the Morton Grove community for years.

He currently serves on the Fire and Police Commission for the Village of Morton Grove. Mazhar Khan has been playing an active role in recruiting of police officers and firemen. As a part of his Commission, he is responsible for the recruitment and promotions of sworn fire and police department personnel, including disciplinary action when required. He is also very active in Community Relations where he represents people with Asian backgrounds. Mazhar takes pride in working with the interfaith team of the Northshore suburbs, where people of different faith get together on one platform and work in harmony with each other.

Mazhar believes in serving the Community at large and promoting a culture of inquiry, and thinking strategically, globally, and futuristically taking into account the needs of the community. Mazhar has served as a volunteer in many community organizations and affiliation for over 10 years, complemented by his science and engineering degree in Powerplants. He serves as a member of the Executive council and Vice President for MCC. Mazhar Khan is actively involved in Operational management and directs the facility operations of MCC Academy of Morton Grove.

He was an instrumental administrator for Indy parks and recreation, before moving to Morton Grove back in the late 90s. During his employment with Indy Parks & Recreation, he had exhibited very successful management of a 6 million-dollar budget and more than 100 facilities under his supervision. He loves to address difficult issues and generate the solution.

As a part of his career, he has also administered and managed maintenance operations for the O’Hare airport facilities in the City of Chicago.

John Liston, Treasurer

John Liston earned a Bachelor of Science from the Darla Moore School of Businessmen at the University of South Carolina, receiving degrees in international business, human resources management, and entrepreneurship.  He obtained a Juris Doctorate from Loyola University Chicago School of Law with a certificate in advocacy.

John currently serves as Executive Director of Serra International. Prior to that he worked for the law firm of Sanchez Daniels & Hoffman, LLP, as a civil defense attorney.  In addition to his work for Serra, John is an adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he teaches courses in negotiation, mediation, and client counseling.  John also serves as the treasurer for Innovation Experts, a non-profit that provides support services for public libraries, and the Chicago Engineers’ Foundation.

Paul Minx, Commissioner

Paul Minx is a United States Army Veteran and a lifelong Morton Grove Resident. Paul and his wife, Rita, have 4 children and 19 grandchildren, eight of which reside in Morton Grove.

Paul Minx has many years of experience in various Morton Grove community civic organizations. Commissioner Minx currently services as the president of the Morton Grove Days Commission, is a member of the Morton Grove Appearance Commission, serves on St. Martha’s Parish Council and Parish Life. Paul also spent 7 years volunteering on the Fire Department Pension Board for the Village. Paul’s current and past involvement with the Village of Morton Grove lends itself to a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Lisa Rathunde, Commissioner

Lisa Rathunde grew up in Morton Grove and is still a resident. She and her husband, Ken, love raising their four young children in this village.
Lisa and her family’s favorite thing to do is be outdoors. They enjoy going on walks around town and visiting all the parks that Morton Grove has to offer. They also love to go camping.

Lisa likes to be involved in the community . She currently serves on the Morton Grove Days Commission. She is an active member of St. Martha’s/ All Saints Parish.
